Fond memories

my eye candy

What I love about food is that not only does it nourish the body, bring people together and all around provide pleasure, but it can look amazing and pretty. Especially desserts.

I've decided to post some events those table settings I have had the pleasure to play with. Yes, I see tablescapes, or "setting the table with style," as playtime which I get to use my imagination and get super creative.

                                                     Cheryl & Mori's Big Day

A vintage travel themed wedding was held at San Francisco International Airport Museum. Honestly, I didn't even know a museum existed, but it surely did and it was the perfect backdrop for this amazing "event," as the bride puts it ;p

Every detail was creative and personal to the bride and groom.

Down to the vintage postcards as guestbooks and table setting

And of course, the dessert table!

 Vanilla Dream Supreme,

Perfect hostess inspired cupcakes,

Doo-wop Whoopie pies (groom's 'cake'),

Personalized teal colored M&Ms,

to the barely there Orange Dreamsicles Pops (Oreo truffles),

and of course, the personalized Hers & His Hershey bars!

A perfect dessert table to the happy couple

Congratulations Cheryl and Mori!

Thank you for letting us share in your special day. We love you

A tame bachelor/bachelorette dinner party

P & D decided to combine their bachelor and bachelorette parties into one big dinner party, thus depriving their friends of any planned debauchery. We set up camp at iLounge and reserved the 'garden room' for this purpose.

Knowing me, the bride specifically requested red roses and romance as the theme. Frustrated but willing, I complied.

But I had to use the garter to inject a touch of my influence on this event ;)

This is the appetizer table and the red gift boxes were mini red velvet sandwich cookies with pecans. Don't they go well with the theme?

Table set for dinner with over 30 guests. Thank you to the wait staff for helping me pull this together at the last moment. You guys were awesome!

What's a table setting without a big, showstopper! It was literally roses galore and such a steal. I found a wholesale florist who luckily was having an additional sale on red roses that particular week.

These smelled so good! Yes, real roses and red carnations. It was my first time making a giant flower ball. The green foam retained water very well. With candles floating in the vase, I was sure the flower ball would burn at the end of the night.
With such a long table, I alternated with three low and three high rectangular vases of roses, punctuated with romantic candles and scattered rose petals throughout.

A sea of red roses...so much work.

Congratulations P & D! I still love you.

 AKPsi Sweet Sixteen Formal

AKPsi formal which Bacon and I designed for 200 fraternity actives and alumnus.

This was at a banquet hall in the Westin Hotel located in downtown SD

There was barely a budget, so we had to scrimp and scheme up a budget friendly formal. It was a hit and everything was still beautiful!

And yes, those are REAL orange goldfishes swimming in the vases. We wanted something fresh and interesting. I'm just glad the fish weren't freaked bu the floating candles on top. And I would like to emphasized that no fish were harmed during the making of this formal. They were adopted by a very nice lady at the hotel.
